Since moving into her new home, Ellen has discovered a sense of belonging and comfort. She enjoys having her own space to relax and decorate how she likes. With support nearby when she needs it, Ellen feels more confident trying new things – from baking to going out in the community.

“I’ve made new friends here. I feel supported, and I get to do things I enjoy at my own pace.”

Ellen loves spending time listening to music, chatting with staff, and taking part in gardening projects. She’s proud of how much more independent she’s become and says the best thing is feeling safe and understood.

"When I first moved into residential care, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was nervous, but the staff made me feel welcome from the start.

I have my own room, and it’s decorated the way I like it. I’ve made friends here, and we do activities together like cooking, gardening, and sometimes we play games. It’s great because I feel like I have my own space, but I’m also part of a community.

The staff support me with things like managing my routine and helping me with my goals, but they also let me make my own choices. I’ve learned new skills and become more independent, and it’s nice knowing that I have people to talk to when I need help. Living here feels like home, and I’m glad I made the move.".
