Hi, I’m Rianna and I’m a single parent to four children.

I suffered from depression and anxiety and spent a lot of time at home by myself. I decided I wanted to get out and do something, not just for me but for my family. I plucked up the courage to apply for a volunteer position at the Autism Plus charity shop as I shopped there from time to time.

I’m so happy I was brave enough to do this as it has built my confidence up. I have gone from volunteering one day a week to three days a week, five hours a day, while my children are at school.

I no longer suffer from anxiety and depression. I absolutely love coming to volunteer and thoroughly enjoy my days in the shop. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and make me feel relaxed and confident. I love being able to serve the customers and help do the window displays. I am grateful to have had this opportunity to learn new skills which I know will help when I apply for paid employment.

"People's care and support was exceptionally personalised and this meant that people were at the centre of their care. We saw evidence that people's care and support was planned and reviewed with them." - CQC Report 2018
