Jack

Jack began our Youth Hub project in September 2022 with the goal of finding a hands-on job, improving his confidence, and improving his english and maths skills. Jack has autism, but he felt that his main barriers to finding work was lack of confidence and dyslexia.

Through the project, he discovered that routine and planning were important to him and that meeting new people and developing conversation skills were crucial to success. Together with his coach he completed a one-page profile and CV, and identified potential job opportunities in working with animals or construction.

Jack decided to apply for a role at Cafeology as they had an opportunity within their warehouse. Following a successful interview he was offered a job on the same day! Once Jack accepted the position he completed a skills assessment and signed up to complete an english and maths qualification.

Jack has come a long way since starting the Youth Hub project last year. With a newfound sense of confidence and a clear goal in mind, he set out to find a hands-on job that would allow him to put his unique skills and passions to use. Despite facing challenges related to his dyslexia and lack of confidence, Jack persevered and through the help of his coach he was able to identify potential career paths and land a job at a local warehouse.

But that's not all - Jack is also on track to achieve his dream of learning to drive. With a steady income from his new job, he will be able to invest in driving lessons and take the first steps towards gaining his independence on the road. And as his confidence continues to grow, he's also been able to reconnect with friends and engage in social activities that he once thought were out of reach.

We're extremely proud of all that Jack has accomplished, and we can't wait to see all that he will achieve in the future.

"Glad to see happy faces"
