Building a Future Together: Amanda and Mark's Journey
01 March 2023Meet Amanda and Mark!
Amanda had been living with a friend, receiving support from the Autism Plus supported living team when she met Mark at their local church. They quickly hit it off and began spending more time together, eventually falling in love. They decided to move in together and find a home of their own, so the team at Autism Plus helped them find an apartment and plan the move.
To suport Amanda and Mark in their new home, together we created a tailored suppoort package based around their needs. In 2017, Amanda and Mark tied the knot at their local chruch, surrounded by family and friends. We were honoured to be a part of their milestone and celebrate with them on their special day.
Today, Amanda and Mark are happily settled into married life, leading busy and fulfilling lives. They attend church, participate in games nights and knitting groups, go swimming and gym and Mark volunteers at a local charity shop. They said "we love our apartment, we love our life here. Now we are married it's the happiest we have ever been. Support from the Autism Plus team helps us to be more independent and keep up with our busy social lives."
"I would give them 100 per cent. They are amazing, they have changed my (family member’s) life. My (family member) has achieved so much, because they have put in so much. It was a year since (family member) moved in and they had a really big cake for (family member), to celebrate."
