A New Car Brings Greater Independence
18 September 2026There was plenty of excitement at our Thorne Supported Living service recently as one of the individuals we support collected his new car.
Owning a car is an important milestone and represents a huge step towards greater independence. It will give him more choice and control over how he spends his time, making it easier to travel, enjoy new experiences and stay connected with the people and places that matter most to him.
He's already planning a road trip to Cleethorpes, one of his favourite destinations, and is looking forward to the freedom and opportunities that having his own car will bring.

“It was extremely helpful having Autism Plus workplace assessment to help us in working with an individual diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, giving us a better insight of the syndrome so we could offer more appropriate support. The assessor was knowledgeable, understanding of the circumstances from a business perspective and really tried having a full overview of the situation. The report came back to us within the promised time frame and full of recommendations on how to best accommodate the individual needs, which was really thorough and supportive.”
